It's July, it's hot, we mainly want to party. Come meet, mingle, eat, drink and network with us. And if you like, sign up for "Speed Dating" - introduce yourself to our nine sponsoring hosts and spend three minutes getting to know each other before moving on. Just like real life. (Instead of flowers, our sponsors hope to woo you with special discount offers.) Click here for the lineup (to date) of sponsors (to speed date). And thank sponsor Precision Photos for covering our costs so we can make this absolutely FREE for all our actor friends. (There will be a donation basket there for those generous souls who want to bring back the TRU Actors Update.)
Your dates will include:
Valerie Adami - Weist Barron Studios
Erin Cronican of the Actor's Enterprise
Todd Etelson - Actors Technique NY
Hal Hochhauser - Shakespeare Mailing
Bobby Holder - The Actors Project
Moto Ishibashi - headshot photographer
Meredith Kaunitz - acting coach
Cheryl King - solo performance coach
Paul J. Michael - The Network
Michael Roderick of Small Pond Entertainment
This event is already well-reserved, so you gotta send us your own RSVP as soon as you can. And you must specify if you want to sign up for "Speed Dating" - slots are way limited. Email us at TRUnltd@aol.com with "ACTOR RSVP" as your header.
How does it work? Okay. There are nine stations each manned by a sponsor who offers you a service. We put you in a group of nine, each of you starts at a different station. You spend three minutes finding out about your "date." Or telling them about yourself. Or asking for advice. Or cvetching. It's your three minutes. We let you know when 30 seconds remain, and then we let you know when three minutes are up and you have to move to the next station. As a thank you, your "date" will give you a coupon for a discount or special offer (these offers are given only to people who go through Speed Dating.) At the end of a thirty minute (approx) circuit, we bring in the next group of nine. While you're waiting, you can drink and socialize. Or primp for your date.
We will also be offering headshot/resume evaluations and consultations with TRU Casting Director Catherine Lamm. Plus a series of brief talks about audition tips and etiquette. BRING HEADSHOTS - THERE WILL BE MANY PEOPLE THERE WHO WILL WANT TO HAVE YOU ON FILE, ESPECIALLY THE TRU CASTING DIRECTOR CATHERINE LAMM.
TRU actors: if you already RSVP'd on the Actor Survey, we've got you. But do email us if you want to reserve a slot for "Speed Dating": TRUnltd@aol.com

As Artistic Director, Michael has produced over 30 shows since his arrival in NY in September 2002.
