Look at what all your support has accomplished since last year’s donor drive:

• Eleven months of panels, including Using Video As a Marketing Tool, Marketing Your Showcase, Equity 2.0: Upgrades to the Basic Codes and Contracts, Producing Opportunities Beyond New York and Adapting Your Fundraising Strategy to the Current Economy.

• One of the most unique TRU Voices New Plays Reading Series ever, with three wonderful new plays all by women, all produced and directed by women! Plus three new musicals in our TRU Voices Musicals Series!

• A new program of Table Readings of new works.

• Three Writer-Producer Speed Dates, introducing 66 writers to 66 producers. And yes, we made some matches!

• Four TRU Producer Boot Camps: one on Raising Money for Theater, and three on Pitching and Presentation Skills.

• Three Practical Playwriting Workshops, giving about 36 playwrights the chance to strengthen their work and pitch it to real producers.

• Consultations and mentorships for the 35 members of our Producer Mentorship Program, plus mentorship forums and networking events.

• We put the talents of 270 actors before 50 theater companies and casting professionals during our Audition Event Weekend, and continued to nurture actor members with four Resource Nights/”Actor Speed Dates” plus monthly seminars.

• We sent out our monthly TRU Update to a community of 3400 subscribers, and helped subscribers connect to the resources, jobs and services they needed.

* If you would like specifically to take our new Monthly Table Read Series off hold and support it, you can make a special $500 Table Read Patron donation – that’s what each reading costs, and we will gladly acknowledge your support at the reading and make sure you are invited to these private events. Our Goal: to pump $4000
by Labor Day, September 6th!

We know there's a strain on everyone now, but if 400 of you each donated $10, we’d make our goal. And if some of you could find it in your hearts (and budgets) to donate $50, $100 or more, we might exceed our goal
and have enough money to make up
for the state discretionary funds that fell through (see below)*. CLICK HERE or
go to www.truonline.org/store-new.html,
sign in, enter store, click “Donation.”

Sincerely,
Bob Ost, Executive Director
Theater Resources Unlimited

Dear TRU Friend,

Summer, schmummer. The whole year
has had us sweating. Donations are down, renewals are down. We get it – the economy is down. Our NYSCA funding was approved (yay!), but state budget cuts have resulted
in an 8% reduction in our funding (boo!). Now we have learned that state discretion-
ary funds sought by State Assembly Person Daniel O’Donnell on our behalf have been vetoed by Governor Paterson. That was
about $4000 that we were going to use
to run our newly created monthly Table
Read Series of new plays [sigh!].

There’s a lot that could get us down,
but support from friends like you has
kept our spirits up and our programs
running. Now it’s time for the heavy
lifting: flexing those fundraising
muscles and rallying your loyal support to get us through the summer. Hopefully it’s a labor of love for you, which is why
our goal is to raise $4000 by Labor Day, September 6th.
